We help preserve what matters most – through story.
Inked In Time exists to capture the voices of loved ones before they leave us, transforming memories into storybook memoirs your family will treasure for generations.
This isn’t about writing history books. It’s about preserving warmth, laughter, hardship, and identity. It’s about capturing a life – not just in photos, but by way of the people who lived it.
About the Founder
Hi, I’m Matt Hirst, and I started Inked In Time for a simple reason: I never got the chance to truly know three out of four of my grandparents, and I wish I knew more about their lives.
I grew up overseas and moved back to the U.S. in the late 2000s. My family was spread out, we had lived overseas for the first half of my life, and time slipped away. We all got used to not seeing each other much. When we lost two of my grandparents within the last year and a half, I realized that I had lost a lot of their life stories too.
The idea for Inked In Time was a wakeup call. My relationship with my last-remaining grandparent, my grandmother, is no better than the other three. I want to change that. Alongside that realization came the idea for Inked In Time; it was a light-bulb moment.
As a writer, I’ve told many people’s stories – through journalism, public relations, even my personal writings. What I found again and again was this: I love it. I also found that people open up when they feel seen – when you give them something of yourself – and those moments make for better stories, and better conversation.
Sometimes, those moments lead to powerful, lasting connection. And even when they don’t – be it a conversation in a bar, or with an Uber driver – the best of them stay with you. They open up your world to things you may not have considered.
That’s what this business is built on.
Not just conversation – but vulnerability.
Not just storytelling – but soulful listening.
Not just memoirs – but meaning.
I hope you’ll let us help tell you and your loved ones’ stories.
